Communication between parents and primary schools often happens across multiple disconnected channels. Newsletters are created manually in Word, messages are scattered across platforms, and important updates get lost in long texts or excessive notifications. Through interviews, surveys, observation, and focus groups, I mapped the pain points on both the teacher and parent side.

The core insight was that the traditional weekly newsletter no longer fits how parents consume information. Most parents check updates on their phone, scan quickly, and mainly look for content that is relevant to their own child. At the same time, teachers spend a disproportionate amount of time manually collecting and formatting information.

I redesigned the concept of the newsletter into an interactive, mobile-first communication platform. Instead of a static document, the system structures content as dynamic posts that can include agenda items, action-required blocks, polls, and media. Teachers create content once, and the system automatically bundles and structures it. Parents receive a clear feed where interaction is possible directly within each post.

The prototype includes features such as smart message planning to reduce notification overload, simple language and translation options for accessibility, and structured content types that make communication consistent and scalable. The result is a unified communication ecosystem that reduces friction, supports interaction, and aligns with how users actually behave on mobile.
