Interactive archive experience
For Bibliotheek Rotterdam, I worked at Evers + de Gier on the ErfgoedStudio, a digital platform that makes the Atlas van Stolk collection accessible and relevant for a broad audience. My role focused on building and bringing the interactive experience to life.

Project details
I built the ErfgoedStudio application in Framer, translating a large historical archive into an intuitive and exploratory touchscreen experience. The interface was designed as an open canvas that encourages discovery, allowing visitors to connect historical works with contemporary interpretations through simple, playful interactions. I focused heavily on interaction, animation, and flow, ensuring the experience feels accessible to all visitors while still offering depth for those who want to explore further. The platform was developed and launched within five weeks and is designed to scale, making it easy to add new works and stories over time.

UX approach
A key challenge was making a large historical archive feel playful and accessible for a broad audience, from children to older visitors and casual passers-by. I focused on creating an exploratory touchscreen experience that invites people to interact and discover, while still allowing deeper information to appear when needed. That meant designing for large touch targets, clear feedback, visible press states and lightweight sound cues so interactions felt immediate and intuitive on a public screen. At the same time, the system had to be scalable, so new works, artists and stories could be added over time without changing the core experience.
