Mobile app UX and UI
For the ZelfCoach App at Evers + de Gier, I worked on the UX and UI of a digital product focused on emotional wellbeing. The app combines reflection, content and behaviour change, with the challenge of turning complex psychological concepts into an experience that feels clear, supportive and usable in everyday life.

Project details
I worked on wireframes, interface design and interaction patterns from the first release in 2023 through later improvements in 2025. Together with Koen, who led the user testing and research, I helped translate insights into clearer flows and more approachable interfaces across the app. A major challenge was that the product combined different parts such as weten, voelen and doen, each with its own type of content, exercises and UI patterns. My role focused on making that complexity feel more structured and understandable, while refining the app over time based on feedback and iteration.

UX approach
A key challenge was reducing cognitive load without losing the depth of the product. Research showed that users could feel overwhelmed by the amount of content, struggled to understand the relationship between different modules, and wanted clearer guidance on what to do next. Based on those findings, I worked on simplifying lesson structures, improving the check-in flow, making onboarding choices more visible in the home experience, and introducing clearer differentiation between modules through colour, illustration and hierarchy. In the 2025 update, that also meant making parts of the app more interactive and actionable, adding suggestions after check-ins, and replacing the original smiley-based check-in with a battery-style interaction that gave users a clearer and more flexible way to express how they felt.
